Camp is a totally immersive experience, which means that we are able to fit into five days, what might take a month or so elsewhere!
We seek to find ideas for our work in unusual & sometimes difficult places, being inspired by things that most people would never see or notice, anywhere & everywhere. In buildings & architecture; the sounds and rhythms of the street; colours, spaces, people walking past in a hurry. We work hard to transform these experiences into performance. Previous projects have seen us exploring 50 years of post card correspondence discovered in a junk shop, creating a site specific performance within the grounds and buildings at Ufton & getting to grips with performing using strange and unusual objects.
What does a Camp look like?
Each day follows a similar pattern, with workshop sessions in the morning and afternoon, with a long lunch break in between, giving plenty of opportunities for you to recharge your batteries, or maybe work with others, towards making something for the last night cabaret; the choice is yours.
We have our very own THRIFT catering team, who cook three fantastic meals each day, full of fresh ingredients and popular grub.
Each evening we have an informal gathering called “The Glee Club” where we get together to tell stories, make music & drink cocoa.
We encourage everyone to be quiet by 23:00, so everyone is able to be useful the next day.
